Safaricom Careers. Enviroment Officer

We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the within Corporate Affairs Division.
In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below:
Senior Environment Management & Sustainability Officer Ref: CA_SEMSO_OCT_2011
Reporting to the Senior Manager- Sustainability Reporting & Environmental Compliance, job holder will carry out environmental due diligence and risk assessment of network operations and also support
sustainability initiatives in the company.


Key Responsibilities
In Liaison with the Senior Manager-Sustainability Reporting & Environment Compliance support in development and management of Safaricom Environmental Management Policy;
Carry out environmental due diligence for all Safaricom facilities, retail centers and BTS sites;
Ensuring Safaricom’s active participation in environmental initiatives through the relevant fora;
Support sustainability initiatives and reporting in the company;
Ensure staff involvement and participation in the environmental and Sustainability initiatives;
Ensuring community engagement in the EIA/EA process;
Tracking of Safaricom’s compliance with EMCA 1999 and the subsequent regulations with special focus and reference to the EIA/EA regulations

Minimum requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resource Sciences, Environmental studies;
A postgraduate degree, diploma or certificates in courses in environmental matters within a highly technical industry will be an added advantage;
A registered associate lead environmental expert registered with NEMA;
Excellent knowledge of EMCA 1999 and the subsequent regulations At least 3 years experience in the environmental compliance sector for the manufacturing, construction or ICT sector or large scale industry; 1 of which should be in process management ;
Excellent working knowledge of ICT regulatory environment.

Operations Supervisor
Service delivery requirements include:
* Effective management of the call centre and reception area

APHRC Communications Manager Job In Kenya

The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization that carries out policy relevant research on population, health, education and development issues facing sub-Saharan Africa.

The Center seeks to recruit a Communications Manager.


Duties

* Oversee and manage all APHRC’s Corporate Communication functions
* Lead the development, production and circulation of institutional publications
* Manage the production and circulation of Working Papers and Research Reports including ensuring editorial quality control
* Plan and implement communication activities at international, regional and national levels
* Work with, and through, national, regional and international networks to promote the utilization of research evidence in policy formulation and action
* Facilitate the dissemination of APHRC’s work through media networks and associations
* Identify and lead the implementation of activities that promote awareness of APHRC’s work among various publics
* Provide advice on website content and design
* Identify and make available e-resources relevant to APHRC’s research work
* Identify and pursue fundraising opportunities for Communication activities and participate in development of proposals
* Supervise Communication Assistants and Officers


Skills and Qualifications

* MA or MSc in mass communications, information sciences (publishing major), and related fields
* At least five years hands-on experience in undertaking similar work, preferably at an international or research organization
* Excellent writing skills and ability to translate complex scientific facts into simple messages for general audiences.
* Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office products and Desk-Top Publishing software

Enterprise Technical Support Engineer Ref: TECHNICAL _ ETSE_OCT_2011
Reporting to the Enterprise Technical Assistance Manager; the holder of the position will

Ensure service availability to all clients by offering 2nd level support to escalated trouble tickets;

Respond to and act on escalated trouble reports from SMC within the day;
Troubleshoot and solve ticketed incidents within SLA.

Key Responsibilities
Attend to, resolve and write report on SMC Escalations and ticket closed within the day;
Drive activities required to ensure maximum availability of service;
Familiarize with advanced IP and emerging technologies and provide 2nd level technical support on the same;
Engage on service diagnostics /audits & assess the system readiness regularly;
Comprehensive Fault Reports detailing failure issues.

Minimum requirements
BSc Computer Science, or Bsc. Electrical & electronic engineering, Telecommunication engineering;
Qualified IP /Wimax Support Engineer with CCNA, or equivalent with university degree from a recognized university;
At least 1 year hands-on experience on Wimax, RF systems, GPON, cloud computing, MPLS, Wi-Fi;
Thorough understanding of IPv4 ,IPv6, Linux/Unix Operating Systems;
Valid driving license with minimum 2 year experience;
IT proficiency skills in MS office suite;
Knowledge and skills in Wimax systems, Microwave backhaul systems backed by professional certification;
Knowledge and Skills on Network Management systems for Wimax networks and Point to Point systems;
Analytical skills and ability to monitor and explain trends and variances;
Ability to meet strict deadlines and to work without supervision;
Ability to relate well with both internal and external customers and work in teams;
Skills and ability to train others and enhance their skills and competencies.

About this position
Bridge International Academies is offering a 1 year contract for a highly skilled video editor for our fast paced product studio.

Successful candidates will be strong communicators, very detail-oriented, and have a passion for the video process. The editor's primary role will be to film video samples in schools and on-site, and edit videos, making them ready for use in our training sessions.

Experience and Attributes:
In-depth knowledge of video recording and editing process
Experienced or comfortable using high end consumer video for capturing simple video clips
Excellent and proven range of digital video post production skills (including adding call outs/arrows to videos, capturing the computer screen and Powerpoints on video, and editing audio)
Experience with Camtasia Studio or a similar video editing suite is highly preferred
Proactive problem solving, both technically and creatively
Calm under pressure, can excel in fast-paced project timeframes
An obsession for creating excellent videos on schedule
Self-driven and able to easily communicate creative ideas and collaborate in a team environment
Experience working with children or in a school is preferred

Reporting to the Senior Manager-Business Contracts and Performance, the job holder will be responsible for using modeling tools to develop supply chain and network analysis; build forecast through collaboration with relevant suppliers and departments; manage analysis of specific products and services as well ensure order fulfillment.

Key Responsibilities:

•Implement policies and procedures for preparation, administration and review of contract/trial contracts as per company policy;
•Implement and maintain a contract management framework based on different categories of goods and services.;
•Monitor and report adherence to policy and procedure developed for all Contracts and SLA’s with all stake holders;

The ideal candidate will possess:

•A university graduate with a Bachelor Degree in Technology, Engineering, Business or related field from a recognized university;
•A graduate diploma Qualification in supply Chain management preferably CIPS level 6;
•At least 5 years experience in operations or supply chain environment with responsibility for purchasing or supply chain operations management;
•Excellent skills and experience in working within an ERP environment ;
•Extremely organized and detail oriented with excellent follow-up skills;
•Excellent analytical skills with ability to influence and make decisions;
•Good customer service skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Principal Information Systems Auditor

Ref: RM – PISA – OCT2011

Reporting to the Head of Department - Information Systems Audit Management, the job holders will drive improvement in the internal control environment by providing proactive recommendations on control issues and execute specific audit assignments according to the audit plan.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in establishing risk-based plans to determine the priorities of the Information Systems Audit team, consistent with the organisation's goals;
  • Execute risk based information systems audit reviews based on the annual Information Systems audit plan;
  • Assess the risks inherent in the company's information systems and provide practical action plans to mitigate them;
  • Communicate and review audit results with stakeholders and ensure positive management commitment to implementation of audit recommendations;
  • Monitor the implementation & operation of defined controls on an ongoing basis;
  • Follow up on information systems audit recommendations to ensure that they are implemented on a timely basis.
Minimum Requirements
  • Upper second degree in a Technical or Business field from a recognized University;
  • Professional Qualifications on Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) or CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional);
  • 6-8 years external audit work experience specializing in Information Systems audit from a reputable audit firm or extensive experience in Information Systems audit within an internal audit function;
  • Detailed understanding of the GSM environment would be an advantage;
  • Good understanding of the concept of risk and risk assessment;
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of CAAT’s is a must;
  • Detailed knowledge of information systems governance and security principles & practices;
  • Excellent communication, analytical and report writing skills;
  • Attention to details and result oriented;
  • Must have the ability to work within strict deadlines with minimum supervision.
