Save the Children Jobs in Kenya

We are looking to recruit the following 2 positions
1. Emergency Monitoring and Reporting Officer 

12 months based in Nairobi

The Monitoring and Reporting Officer will serve as primary writer for the development of proposals and donor reporting to support the emergency response in Somalia.

S/he will work closely with the Emergency Programme Manager in the overall implementation and management of monitoring, impact assessment and information management to ensure high quality, innovative and accountability standards are integrated into the regular donor reporting system of the Save the Children’s Emergency Response in Somalia.

Person Specification

  • Demonstrated experience of writing winning proposals for different key institutional donors,
  • Experience and knowledge of monitoring and needs/impact assessment methods
  • Good negotiation, communication, personal organizational skills including time management, decision-making and interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Understanding of donor compliance and key SC reporting procedures
2. Director of Operations 

12 months based in Nairobi

The Director of Operations will be responsible for providing supportive management to the Area Representatives in each of Save the Children’s operational areas, to ensure that robust systems are in place that allow for the portfolio of work to be delivered in an integrated manner, efficiently, on time, within budget and that it achieves the objectives.

He/She will work closely with other members of the senior management team drawing on support from their sections to ensure the quality of programming and that each programme area is assessing and responding to the emergency needs of children as Save the Children’s dual mandate requires.

Person Specification
  • Post graduate masters degree on development or other social sciences
  • 10+ years’ management experience of managing systems to support programme delivery
  • Proven experience of delivering multi sector programmes with an annual budget in excess of GBP 10m indicating substantial experience and knowledge of effective financial and budgetary control and securing and managing grants (e.g., EC, ECHO, UN mechanisms, SIDA, DANIDA and DFID grants).
  • Proven experience of managing people at senior level and promoting a consultative and inclusive management style.
  • An in-depth understanding of national and international development issues in particular in relation to children.
